Aliens Scene
Today Show & 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment
This video was intended for a TV Competition, but we never got it done on time. Had to choose one of five Fox flicks and recreate it in some way or form. We picked the Alien Scene and thought it would be great if we could have Thomas act with the one and only Sigourney Weaver.

How Was it made
Step One
The first thing we needed to do is get rid of Burk. This was done by creating a completely new background plate. This effectively got rid of Burk and Ripply.

Step Two
Now we need to add Ripply back into the shot so we end up with something like this:

Step Three
We add our new actor into the scene and mask and key out the Green Screen so we end up with Sigourney and our new actor in the same scene:

Some Notes
One of the biggest problems with this scene is when Burk (the original actor) moves past Ripply. You need to rotoscope as much of him away as possible. The second problem is when Ripply walks past our actor. You need to move her to the top layer and use an animated mask around her.

That's pretty much how it was done.

The Green Screen and filming
Our little actor needed to work to markers the whole time. These markers are used as a reference for the actor to look at and act to. Its pretty difficult getting a 6 year old to act to a red spot on a wall and then move to a new position and act to a new red spot :)

As you can see he had a lot of fun doing this!
